Flourishing Fashion from Your Friend Chung Ha

Kim Chung Ha, a rising solo artist and a former member of IOI: an 11 member girl group formed through Mnet’s reality show “Produce 101” back in 2016. She made her solo debut just a little over 6 months after the group’s disbandment. Solo artists tend to be underrated in the Korean music industry due to the fact that it’s mainly being dominated by groups. Be that as it may, Chung Ha’s skills itself have positively phased out that concept and was even able to establish a major fan club which she calls Byulharang.

On the 30th of May 2020, a new music video titled “My Friend” featuring Korean American rapper pH-1 was posted on her official Youtube channel that stunned a lot of followers on account of having a very small time gap between the release date and the teaser video that a lot of netizens seemed to have missed. Though mind that this isn’t an official comeback from the artist but simply a small collaboration that was developed by Zion T through a new short-form variety program on Mnet.

Taking note of her outfits in the music video, they were notably diverse when compared to her style on-stage. Frequently, Chung Ha is seen in bold outfits with sparkles and glitters as this is very much loved by her stylist except this time we see the “comfortable and simple” style of hers that she previously described back at Seoul Fashion Week 2019 at KYE’s Spring/Summer 19 collection runway show.

Taking a closer look at these “simple” pieces, Chung Ha clearly does love her designer brands. Lucky us, the fashion industry is unimaginably immeasurable thus finding similar cheaper alternatives to these pieces is not exactly challenging.

The first piece we see in the music video is a jacket from British fashion designer: Vivienne Isabel Westwood. The Lou Lou Jacket is one of the label’s iconic silhouettes that comes back around every season with a different touch to it. For its Spring/Summer 20 collection, it’s back in a beige drunken tartan pattern and an empowering yet flattering feminine silhouette, expertly tailored with broad shoulders and long hems for a sophisticated fit. A special collaboration with a Japanese mill gives it its true Westwood aesthetic through a rare-hand shaken tartan effect.

Owned by Kim So Hee and established back in 2004; STYLENANDA is one of South Korea’s biggest makeup and fashion brand.

ACNE STUDIOS SS20 Logo Label Sweatshirt

The minimalistic visual of this Sweden based brand is what makes up the aesthetic of Acne Studios. The Logo Label Sweatshirt in canary yellow, also available in optic white, was crafted for an oversized fit. Although it can’t be seen, a label left with a loose thread is adorned at the backside to give it a subtle note of texture.

₩450,000 (approx. £280 / €300 / $360)

We recommend you to check your local retailers first beforehand as ordinary coloured sweaters can easily be found in plenty of stores. It is also worthwhile to have a look at vintage stores as you might just catch yourself a bargain! However, if you are quite fussy and genuinely looking for something low-cost, YESSTYLE offers a broad range of types. The company was established back in 2006 allowing global shoppers to access Korean and Japanese fashion and beauty products.

SANDRO PARIS SS20 Prey Embroidered Ribbed Top

Last yet important, the Prey Embroidered Ribbed Top is just one of the few stunning pieces from Sandro Paris’s Spring/Summer 20 range. It is constructed with mid-weight fabric and cut for a close fit.

₩269,000 (approx. £155 / €145 / $220)

From downtime to party time, there is a large range of ribbed tops out there for any occasion. Looking at one of South Korea’s thriving womenswear labels familiar with girl groups; BADBLOOD produces the most reasonable and wearable items across all lines.

As much as we are excited to see how the solo queen will slay the comeback stage again in her powerful visuals and dazzling costumes, “Stay Tonight” was just released a little over a month ago.

Consequently, you still have a long waiting around to do so to ease that restlessness, luck is on your side because Chung Ha has not stalled her activities with the purpose of staying connected with her fans. A new colourful music video titled “Be Yourself” just released in collaboration between Sprite and MNH Entertainment.

The message conveyed here is not to be afraid to show transparently who you are and whatever your appearance and image is. In fashion terms, wear exactly what you want without second-guessing yourself or worrying about being judged.

During this time, a lot of groups are making their comeback meaning that several renowned labels are prepping up to drop their Summer/Spring ranges so be sure to stick around with us for the latest updates!
